Why these six cuts?
It’s what a whole animal gives you.
We buy whole animals from 30+ family farms across the East Coast — folks like Meg Wilcox in New York, Riley Harrness in Vermont, and Ed Kelly in Pennsylvania. Every animal yields the same everyday cuts in quantity: the grind, the sausage, the skirt, the bird. That’s why these six make the most generous welcome we can offer, and it’s why they’re the ones our members cook most.

What most folks ask
What exactly comes in the $75 first delivery?
Six cuts, about 10 lbs total: skirt steak (1.8 lbs), ground beef (2 lbs), a whole chicken (3.8 lbs), sweet Italian sausage (1 lb), bacon (10 oz) and beef stir-fry strips (1 lb). Regular price is over $150. Weights are approximate — everything is hand-cut, so packages vary slightly.
What does “two weeks on us” mean?
A Walden membership is one delivery a month, from $149.99. For your first delivery, we cover about two weeks of that month: $75 for $150 of meat.
Can I swap something out?
Yes. At checkout, click Edit plan to change any of the cuts. Your cart just needs to stay at $149.99 or above. From your second delivery on, every cut is yours to choose.
What happens after the first delivery?
Your plan continues from $149.99/month and you take over the cuts — steaks, roasts, chicken, seafood, provisions, whatever fits your table. Skip a month or cancel any time before an order is packed.
Do I have to commit to anything?
No subscription lock-in. Take the first delivery, set your rhythm, and change your cuts, skip a delivery, or step away any time before an order is packed.
How much freezer space do I need?
About 10 lbs in the first delivery — a rough rule is one cubic foot per 25–35 pounds, so a single freezer drawer covers it easily. You choose the size and frequency after that, so you’re never buried.
Fresh or frozen?
Frozen at peak and vacuum-sealed, which holds quality better than a “fresh” case that’s been sitting for days. Thaw what you need, when you need it.
Where do you deliver?
Most of New England, New York, and New Jersey — via home delivery or 1-day ground shipping, from Portland, ME to central NJ. Enter your zip at checkout to confirm.
Can I really pick every cut?
Yes — from your second delivery on, that’s the Build Your Own plan. Choose everything from everyday ground beef to cuts your butcher rarely carries. Prefer we handle it? Curated builds a balanced mix around your preferences, and you can exclude anything.
Is this like organic?
We go beyond it. Organic certification is expensive and often co-opted by large operations — much “organic” beef is still feedlot-raised on organic grain. Our farms pledge no pesticides, herbicides, antibiotics, or hormones, and we audit against the Walden Way.
